The countdown to Christmas in Milton Keynes is officially on, and the city is sparkling with festive spirit. 

As the holidays draw closer, we’ve rounded up some of the best ways to celebrate the season right here in Milton Keynes. Whether you’re looking for family fun, cosy winter experiences, or festive nights out, this Christmas countdown list has something for everyone to enjoy. 
 
From twinkling lights and bustling markets to ice skating and family shows, there’s something for everyone to enjoy this season. Whether you’re a local looking for new traditions or a visitor exploring the city’s holiday magic, Milton Keynes offers plenty of ways to make the most of the most wonderful time of the year. 
 
Our Countdown to Christmas: Things to Do in Milton Keynes 
 
1. 15th November - 4th Jan: Community Stoweman Trail 
Join us for our winter trail and discover a selection of snowmen - or as we like to call them, Stowemen - individually designed by local community groups. Wander through the grounds and spot our Stowemen! Learn more about the community groups that created them and solve snowmen themed puzzles in our free activity booklet! 3. 20th November to 14th December: Mulled Wine & Mince Pie Cruise 
A scrumptious deep-filled pie by Camphill Café with vegetarian mincemeat and frangipane, served warm with a generous helping of clotted cream, plus a mug of mulled wine (or a hot drink). Running Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday, 11 am for a 2.5 hr cruise, from 20 November to 14 December. £26 Adults, £15 Children, £5 Infant plus a small booking fee. https://fareharbor.com/embeds/book/electra-community-boat-mk 
 
4. 21 November to 12 December: Festive Fish & Bubbles cruise 
Festive Fish & Bubbles cruise- a glass of prosecco to greet you on board, followed by award-winning fish & chips from Moores at Oxley Park. Running Fridays 12 pm for a 2.5 hr cruise, £33 per person plus a small booking fee. https://fareharbor.com/embeds/book/electra-community-boat-mk 
 
5. 21st November: Santa Parade 2025 
Join centre:mk for the Opening Night of the brand-new festive adventure, Peter Rabbit and Friends™, and experience a heartwarming holiday tale. Watch the excitement unfold as Santa arrives at centre:mk, beginning his journey from Door 1 and parading his sleigh down Midsummer Arcade before the Grand Opening of the Grotto in Starlight Square, Middleton Hall. FREE Entry. 
 
Santa will be joined by special guests from the the milton keynes theatre logo is blue and white with a red stripe .

6. 22nd November: Christmas kicks off in Milton Keynes City 
From 2pm, enjoy fairground rides, watch comedy elves entertain the crowd, and soak up the festive atmosphere with family and friends. The evening will reach its dazzling finale at around 5:15pm with a fireworks display lighting up the Milton Keynes sky. 7. 22nd November: Christmas Wreath Making 
Create your very own natural Christmas wreath using fresh, seasonal foliage in a cosy setting by the water. Whether it’s for your front door or as a gift, your handmade wreath will bring festive charm all season long.

8. 23rd November - 21st December: Christmas Wreath Making with Cerus 
Escape the hustle and bustle, enjoy hot drinks and seasonal treats, and immerse yourself in the art of wreath-making—all within a cosy woodland setting. 
 
9. 23rd November | 11am | FREE: Santa's Arrival 2025 
 
Get into the festive spirit and build memories by coming down to our FREE Santa’s arrival event at your local Dobbies. We will give him a big community welcome with local groups and performers, special treats for all the family, and photo opportunities with the big guy himself.  
 
Event highlights: 
Santa’s grand entrance: witness Santa’s stylish arrival! 
Some lucky kids can meet Santa and share their Christmas wishes. 
Live entertainment: enjoy performances by local community groups.

10. 29th November: Newport Pagnell Lights Switch On 
 
Join us on Saturday, 29th November 2025, as Newport Pagnell transforms into a festive wonderland for our Annual Christmas Lights Switch-On! https://www.facebook.com/NPCLV/?locale=en_GB 
🎪 Here’s what’s happening: 
🛍️ Stalls open from 10 am — perfect for Christmas shopping, treats, and festive gifts! 
🎤 Entertainment kicks off at 1 pm near St Peter’s & St Paul’s — with live music, performances, and festive fun for the whole family! 
🎄 The big parade starts gathering at 4:30 pm by the Christmas tree and sets off at 4:50 pm — don’t miss it! 
💡 And then… the LIGHTS SWITCH-ON at 5 pm! ✨ Let’s light up the High Street together! 
 
11. 4th to 30th December 2025: Christmas at Bletchley Park 
The latest intelligence from the North Pole confirms that Father Christmas will be returning to Bletchley Park this December. This year, he has enlisted the help of a few extra friends who will bring the secret world of A Codebreakers’ Christmas to life for all the family. 12. 4th December: Relax, Unwind & Create: Festive Wreath-Making Workshop 
Take a pause this festive season and join us for an evening of creativity, connection, and calm. Hosted by Hope & Wellbeing Hub and The Bear Path Project, this cosy wreath-making workshop is designed to help you unwind, meet like-minded people, and enjoy a mindful moment before the holidays begin. 13. 5th – 21st December: Santa’s Grotto at Milton Keynes Museum.

14. 5th -21st December: Victorian Christmas (Fridays – Sundays only) 
Immerse yourself in the charm of our beautifully decorated Victorian farmhouse, sing along with our cheerful volunteers as carols fill the air around the pianola, and indulge in the festive flavours of mince pies and mulled wine. Browse the craft market in the atrium of the New Gallery and look for that last minute unique gift created by local artists and producers. 15. 6th December: Christmas is coming to the Pavilion! 
A free event with an opportunity to meet Santa! Lots of entertainment and street food too.  
 
16. Sunday 7th December - Enchanting Pantomime 
Join us here at the Milton Keynes Museum for panto perfection this December! Our friends at Black Sheep CIC present The Magical Tinderbox. 
'Step into a world of wonder, laughter, and a touch of fairy sparkle in this year’s enchanting pantomime. Guided by the ever-charming Sugar and Plum Fairy, our story follows the soldier, who stumbles upon a mysterious tinder box with a secret inside. The soldier stumbles upon a lovely quote town chaos, comedy, and enchantment unfold in true panto style. Packed full of Christmas cheer, wonderful characters, and plenty of audience participation, this is a heartwarming tale of courage, kindness, and believing in a little bit of magic.'

20. 12th to 24th December: Meet Santa at Santa's Garage.

21. 13th December 2025 - 22nd December: Christmas Grotto at Willen Hospice 
Meet Santa in his grotto between the 13th-14th and 20th-23rd December. He'll be spending a magical time with your family and will be giving out presents too! 22. 14th December: Willen Hospice Santa Dash 
It wouldn’t be Christmas without our festive Santa Dash! Now a beloved tradition for many MK families, the Santa Dash invites you to dress up as Santa—or in your favourite festive fancy dress—and run, walk, or dash around the beautiful Willen North Lake. Join The Parks Trust at the Tree Cathedral for their annual FREE Christmas carolling event. Bring a lantern, wrap up warm, and enjoy live performances, storytelling, hot drinks, and sweet treats. This event is designed for families and children. No booking required.

26. 22nd - 29th December: Christmas Holiday Fun at Ride High Equestrian Centre 
This Christmas holiday break, wrap up warm and come and meet our friendly ponies – we’ve lots of fun activities for the holidays and with our Indoor School, activities can continue, whatever the weather! There are three half-day Pony & Activities Camps as well as Led Hacks and an Indoor Pony Hour that are ideal for children who are new to horse riding, as well as children who have ridden before. There’s also a Christmas Eve Clear Round jumping session and a new Le Trec Practise & Competition for our regular, graded riders!
