A member recently asked in our Mum to Mum group where to find the best place to choose a real Christmas tree in Milton Keynes and enjoy a hot drink, to make the whole experience feel truly memorable.

If you are looking for the perfect real Christmas tree in Milton Keynes, you are in the right place. From family-run Christmas tree farms to festive woodland lots just outside the city, Milton Keynes and the nearby villages offer beautiful places to choose and cut your tree. Pair your tree-shopping trip with a cosy seasonal drink like hot chocolate, mulled wine or a peppermint latte for a Christmas tradition that feels straight out of a holiday movie.

Here are some of the recomendations from our Mum to Mum community...

1. Stoke Goldington Christmas Trees - MK16 8LW

We open on Sunday, 23rd November.

We are once again welcoming customers to the farm for pick-your-own Christmas tree sales this year. This will be our 20th year selling to the public from the farm, and we're hoping for another successful season. Thank you to everyone who visited during our 2024 season, which we were so pleased with. It was lovely to welcome so many new customers to the farm who had never chosen their own tree from the field before, or indeed had a real tree before, as well as many returning customers who are keen to carry on with their annual tradition of coming to the farm to take their own tree home for Christmas.

Families and children absolutely love the outing to the farm. You can put on your wellies and walk around the fields to choose the perfect tree for the space in your home. It's all about being outdoors on the farm and choosing your own tree to take home for Christmas, creating an annual family tradition that makes memories.

We will cut the tree down for you (don't forget to shout 'timber' and take a photo!), carry it back to our farmyard, and net-wrap it for you to take home. Our team of Santa helpers are available to help you of course.

'Fresh, farm-grown Christmas trees are the ideal adornment to your home, with their beautiful foliage and aromatic scent. Buy British this year!'

2. Christmas at Thrift Wood - MK17 0EQ

We open on Thursday, 27th November.

Thrift Wood Christmas Trees is a family-run business that was founded by David and Margaret Jarvis over 35 years ago. Set in our 75-acre woodland on the edge of Milton Keynes in Buckinghamshire, all our trees are British-grown – and are usually available to buy from the last week in November, right up until Christmas (or until we sell out!).

Thrift Wood Christmas Trees has been part of the local community for decades. Tradition, family and working with nature were at the heart of David’s founding vision – and as a family we carry these values forward together. David’s wife Margaret, his daughter Cerus, his granddaughter Ellanean, and of course the Christmas Tree Team are dedicated to bringing the festive magic into your family’s home.

So many of our regular customers have become friends, and we meet new generations each year. Many say a visit to Thrift Wood for a Christmas tree is the start of the festive season for their families, and we work hard every year to create an enchanting and magical experience outdoors in the barn, the marquee and our Christmas tree area in the wood, and indoors in our Christmas Cabin - all to help you welcome the season in.

At our Thrift Wood Christmas Cabin, you'll find a sparkling selection of Christmas decorations and silk flower displays for your home, as well as unusual gifts and festive treats for our younger visitors. We also create stunning and unique door wreaths that are displayed for sale in the barn.

Being part of your Christmas magic is such a privilege – and we’re looking forward to seeing you this year!

With prices from £35 it is well worth a trip to https://www.christmasatthriftwood.co.uk/our-trees.php

3. Stagsden Christmas Trees - MK43 8SZ

We open on Saturday, 8th November.

At Stagsden Christmas Trees, we understand that Christmas is more than just trees and presents; it is about bringing family together, which is why for us it made sense to get our whole family involved (three generations of it!). Founded by Ian & Liz Craig, our adult children still come home every year to help out, whilst Grandma makes the lunches for the staff and we're still trying to convince Grandad that he can't carry as many trees as he used to. We are also incredibly fortunate to have a loyal seasonal workforce that makes sure everything runs smoothly.

The holiday season is a wonderful thing to look forward to, but for us, Christmas never stops. The trees need looking after, and we travel to find the best decorations to hang on them. Add in designing the shop (we like to mix our designers' lines together for a more homely feel) and finding those extra little bits to dress your home with - or give to a loved one - and you'll understand why, unlike some Christmas shops, we only open for 2 months each year.

Finally, after over 30 years of trading, we are exceptionally lucky to still see some of the same customers who visited us in our very first year. We have become part of other people's Christmas traditions, and as their families grow, we get to see the next generation develop their own, and that makes all our hard work completely worthwhile. Merry Christmas!

4. Frosts Garden Centre - MK17 8UE

Christmas shop open now.

There’s something about a Christmas tree that turns everyone into a child again. Smell the needles, see the sparkling lights and glittering ornaments, and you can feel the anticipation growing. Frosts really has something for everyone at Christmas time. Their Snowy Christmas theme is filled with frosted trees, sparkling ornaments, and all the magic of a white Christmas. After choosing your tree, stop by their café for a warm seasonal drink, such as hot chocolate, and enjoy the festive atmosphere. The combination of fresh pine scent, twinkling lights, and a cosy drink makes the whole outing feel special and memorable, turning a simple tree-shopping trip into a true holiday experience.

They have a fantastic range of Christmas trees of all sizes in the centre, so plan a visit to choose yours and get the festive season started! (usually arrive mid November)

5. Welford Christmas Tree Farm - NN6 6JF

A little bit further out is Welford Christmas Tree Farm, run by Ella and Will Miles on a family farm. Will has been growing trees for over 20 years, and they now have over 60,000 trees growing in the ground.

Will began selling trees from the top of the farm drive when he was 17 years old, and the business has grown year on year. He is an arable farmer for the rest of the year, but farm diversification has been vital in today's climate.

His wife Ella has expanded the shop and most recently the magical Tipi cafe. They have provided trees and wreaths to 10 Downing Street and many businesses and hotels, including Fortnum and Mason, Kilworth House, Fawsley.

6. Wappenham Farm - NN12 8SQ

Back open from 15th November!

Our farm has been in our family for nearly 100 years! With the need to diversify, David and Anette Wilson started selling Christmas trees in 2014, and the farm events soon followed. Our working farm, located in the stunning South Northamptonshire countryside, is open for seasonal events during the year. (Please note that we are not open permanently so do check out our website for our opening days).

Our Christmas Shop is filled with beautiful hand picked decorations, unique gifts, fresh door wreaths, garlands and so much more!

Browse our Christmas Tree Forest to choose your perfect tree. All trees are Premium Nordman Fir.

Enjoy seasonal treats in our cosy Tipi Cafe. Treat yourself to a Baileys Hot Chocolate or a Gingerbread Latte plus there are many delicious festive treats on the menu!

7. Rushmere Country Park - LU7 0EB

Starts Saturday 29th November 2025!

Come to the Herons' View Visitor Centre and choose your British grown Christmas Tree from a large selection of fresh, quality Nordman Fir trees. Sales will continue while stocks last or until Wednesday 24th December.

Please note parking fees apply if you're coming to the park solely to buy a Christmas tree - a 20 minute stay is free of charge.

Why not make the most of your visit with a walk in the woods and a visit to the Tree Tops Cafe for a Gingerbread Latte or Mint Hot Chocolate and mince pie?
