Over the last 37 years, Building Tectonics, an architectural practice in Milton Keynes, has re-designed, altered, and extended hundreds of happy clients' houses across Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, and Hertfordshire.
Many of our clients have come back to us a second (and even a third) time when they have decided to make further changes to their homes or move house.
We have always endeavoured to exceed the aspirations and desires of our clients and have provided a personal and friendly service whilst generating innovative and intelligent design ideas that often achieve much more than the original client brief. Indeed, that is why our business slogan is 'We Design, You Enjoy'.
Our ethos is to provide a high-quality architectural design led by a careful feasibility planning process to make clients' projects a reality, without suffering the pitfalls that many owners of properties face. With Tony's excellent organisational and communication skills and extensive knowledge of what does and doesn't work design and build-wise, it means all the projects that the company takes on are managed successfully to completion.
Open-plan living is still one of the most popular schemes that we, as an architectural practice, get asked to design; as families aim to spend more time together whilst also having zones to enjoy individual time in. Loft conversions are also becoming more and more requested as children stay at home for longer and therefore, need more space, and families cannot always afford the next step up on the housing ladder.

We were undecided about whether to move or extend our house. We had lots of ideas for extending from single to double storey and even a loft, and wanted to look at options for extending with a professional, but didn’t know how to do this really.
A bit of research turned up Tony and Building Tectonics on Houzz, and particularly the feasibility process. We decided that it was a cost effective way to help us decide what to do. The feasibility process structured our ideas and thoughts, along with some professional advice, into something practical and tangible, and gave us 4 or 5 options to look at.
We decided that extending was a better idea than moving, so we engaged with Tony and the team to produce drawings for our chosen scheme. We changed our minds on the design several times, all of which was handled without any fuss from the Building Tectonics team.
Building Tectonics helped us through the planning process and getting the structural calcs done so that we could get proper quotes rather than estimates. There were some complications to the structural steel that Building Tectonics then incorporated seamlessly into the design.
When we had appointed a builder, Building Tectonics helped us with building control, and Tony even cast his eye over the contract we agreed with the builder, and we made some changes on his recommendations.
Our process from initial email to finished build took us about 2 years, and we were engaged with Building Tectonics for that whole time. All in all, the service we received was fantastic, and although it could be said that we have effectively just put a rectangle on the back of our house, it has been done properly with design considerations and details that we could never have even thought of, let alone achieved.
The space flows as it should, and this is down to those clever design details and the process that Tony and his team went through with us. We are very pleased with the end result, and from a client experience point of view, this is a great company to work with.

This is the second time we have used Tony and his team, and the first experience was fantastic and felt Tony planned out exactly what we wanted from what felt like a chat with an old friend. Because of that experience, we have come seeking his help again.
